The local railway station is situated at Piazza Stazione on the northern edge of the town, outside the historic city walls. Padua has regular train connections to Verona, Venice, Milan, and Vicenza. The trip to Venice takes only half an hour, while Milan is 2 hours and a half away.

The local bus station, served by ACAP buses, is situated on Via Trieste 40 at the rear side of Scrovegni Chapel and the Arena Gardens. Regular bus connections are available for Venice and Verona. Although the price of the tickets are similar to those of the trains, visitors and locals use this station mainly for the smaller cities in the surrounding region such as Basano del Grappa.

the main A4 Autostrada, which connects Venice and Milan goes through Padua. Auto traffic in the historic town centre is not allowed. Therefore, it is advisable to inquire about a nearby parking, when booking a hotel. In most cases, hotels have an agreement with nearby car parks and can save you a lot of money.

Getting around the city

Getting around in Padua is quite easy since most of the sights and attractions are situated within the historic heart of the city and are easily covered on foot. Otherwise, if you want to explore some further sights or you are tired of walking you can use the public transport - ACAP buses service most of the city centre. You can get a bus map from the local tourist offices.
